    to converse with hashem

  • the Yidden heard the first 2 of the 10 commandments directly from Hashem and the last 8 they heard through Moshe

Parsha Bites - פָּרָשַׁת תְּרוּמָה

Sponsored by the מַחֲצִית הַשֶּׁקֶל Foundation
  • The Jews are instructed to make a sanctuary which contains: a) a Mishkan: a structure of tapestries supported by beams with a curtain separating the קודש from the courtyard, and b) its vessels: the Aron, the Shulchan, the Menorah, and the external Mizbeach (placed in the courtyard).

  • The Jews are asked to donate the materials for the Mishkan: Gold, silver and copper; Wool (dyed: blue (formed from a liquid secreted in the Murex snail), dyed purple, and dyed with crimson worm), linen and goats’ wool; skins, acacia wood (which Yaakov planted in Mitzrayim, so that it will comfort his descendants while they are in the exile of Mitzrayim that he already planned the material for the sanctuary which they will build after their exodus).

  • The Jews are also asked to contribute: the olive oil for the lamp, spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet-smelling incense; precious stones for the ephod and for the breastplate.
